RMS Sterilized Grain – Sorghum-Based Spawn Bags with Injection Port

The RMS Sterilized Grain is a ready-to-inoculate sorghum spawn bag designed for use with liquid culture, agar wedges, or grain-to-grain transfers. Sorghum is a medium-sized grain that strikes a balance between moisture retention, inoculation points, and nutrient density, making it an excellent all-purpose choice for mushroom cultivation.

Each bag is hydrated to ideal moisture levels, sealed in a Sakato-brand bag with a 0.2 micron filter, and includes an injection port for direct LC inoculation. All grain is prepared in a lab-grade environment, with sterilization and bagging performed in front of multiple laminar flow hoods in air-scrubbed rooms to support consistent and reliable results.

🌾 Balanced Sorghum Grain – Offers excellent inoculation point density, water retention, and nutrition.

💉 Injection Port for Liquid Culture – Allows for easy, sterile LC inoculation without opening the bag.

🧪 Prepared in a Controlled Lab Environment – Hydrated, sterilized, and sealed in front of multiple flow hoods under air-scrubbed conditions.

💦 Optimally Hydrated – No prep required—just inoculate and incubate.

📦 Reliable, Professional Packaging – Sterilized and sealed in Sakato grow bags with 0.2 micron filters for clean colonization with an outer bag for additional protection.

Why Sorghum? A Balanced Grain for Spawn Production

Sorghum offers the best of both worlds: more inoculation points than rye and better moisture retention than millet. Its medium grain size supports even colonization, consistent moisture levels, and reliable nutrient delivery, making it a go-to for growers working with liquid culture or agar.

Includes Injection Port for Liquid Culture

Each bag features a built-in self-healing injection port, allowing cultivators to inoculate with liquid culture directly—no need to open the bag. This supports streamlined workflow and minimal exposure.

    Lab-Prepared for Consistency

RMS grain is prepared in a dedicated lab facility using industry-standard sterilization techniques. Bags are filled, sealed, and sterilized in front of multiple laminar flow hoods within air-scrubbed rooms to help reduce contamination risks and improve consistency across batches.

    Usage

Liquid Culture: Inject 2-5mL liquid culture into injection port using sterilized needle and syringe.

Transfers: In a clean environment, or in front of flow hood, carefully cut bag open and add grain or agar wedge.  Reseal bag and mix to incorporate.

Incubate until fully colonized, then proceed with bulk substrate transfer

    Storage Recommendations:

Store unopened bags in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Use promptly for best results and to maintain quality.
